So, this brings me to the end of my travels across Central America. I can confirm that I am now officially home and safe (relieved sighs all round)!

Day 12: Monteverde, Costa Rica
After a very early start, humid day and a hard border crossing, I am finally in the land of Costa Rica, Marvin’s home! I really am expecting a lot from this country.

So I woke up this morning after my first night at the home stay. I was greeted by the sounds of mangoes falling onto our roof, rain, roosters and various other animals – apparently it is a Mayan tradition to knock on wood when you hear geckos around, and then they ‘talk’ to you. Day 10: Ometepe, Nicaragua
Today we arrived in Ometepe, an island in the middle of Lake Nicaragua, which is formed of two volcanoes called Concepcion and Maderas, which is fairly unusual as it is the largest volcanic island in a freshwater lake in the world.
Day 9: Granada, Nicaragua
Today was another day of rest, this time allowing us to explore the surroundings of Granada in Nicaragua! And a beautiful town it is, too. However, I did have my first experience of tropical rain.
