I can’t believe that this is my last day in paradise. It’s gone far too quickly; I never want to leave! I’ll have to start with the bad news though – the evening following my last blog post ended pretty badly.
So today was my very first day in paradise, and I can assure you that I certainly have not been disappointed.
Today’s post is just a short one – there’s not a lot for me to say really, as we spent 13 hours travelling today! But I can confirm that I am now in paradise.
Today was our first day of proper ‘rest’ and gave us the opportunity to explore the town of Copan a little more.
So, today was my first proper day travelling across Central America!
Here’s my first post to let you all know that I’ve made it! I’m in Guatemala, after three flights, a stupidly early start but luckily very few struggles along the way.
- I am flying on a plane completely alone (three planes, in fact).
- I am visiting a region of the world I have never been to before.
- I am going backpacking!
Some of you may have seen from my previous blog post that Andy King set me a challenge yesterday. Here is the list which I shall keep regularly updated over the course of my degree to portray my achievements. The challenge began at around 10pm on 22 May 2013. You can see Andy’s progress here. Our friend Annmarie is also taking part – here is her list!
Dear Andrew King,
CC: Daniel Cope, any challenge-hungry student
[Aside: Dear Reader, you may have seen that Andy King, who is one of my friends from our first-year English course and Warwick’s independent student newspaper, the Boar, wrote a blog post on his WordPress today challenging me to take part in his version of ‘The Campus 50 Challenge’. The following post is my response to his letter and of course, let one of us know if you wish to take part too!

I recently made the choice to travel across central America this summer, and it was one of the biggest decisions I’ve ever made. It was hugely scary, considering I’m spending a massive amount of money on an unknown area and I’ll be without my friends! However, here are the reasons which convinced me, and I hope they’ll convince you.
